Planes & Adventurous Model | Northern Virginia Photographer – Haylo Photo by Heather

When you have an opportunity to photograph some abandoned, World War II planes…you don’t pass it up! One of these planes actually dropped troops in Normandy! This was a pretty awesome photo shoot to say the least.

We started off by taking the drive out to these rusted out shells, and we started to worry a bit because it was super windy…but we didn’t care, we were determined to make this an epic shoot.

And we did…

During these shots on the wing, I think the wind actually worked in our favor. I absolutely love these shots. Our model was incredible!

I love the black and white one above, her expression, pose, even the wind in her hair…classic.

And of course…some awesome behind the scenes peeks for you! I keep mentioning the wind but seriously…it knocked her down! HA!

Cool thing is, we didn’t have to stay outside the planes, we got to go inside!! The gentleman that took us out to these planes and granted us access warned us that the inside is covered in bird poo. We kind of brushed this off and thought eh, we’ll just avoid the bird poo. Ha…right. It was literally everywhere! Luckily I brought along something for our model to at least sit on. As we started walking towards the cockpit for some shots, out came the bird itself and scared us to pieces! The bird ended up going inside some of the hollowed out gauges and just hung out, watched the shoot take place, occasionally making noise to let us know he was still there. Our model was FULLY aware though haha.

Though we didn’t have much time at this incredible spot, we were able to make the most of it and make some killer images. I am very excited about all of these and also thankful for a great team that made this one happen!
